Beauty in the mundane

(Here I am at Chimney Rock, North Carolina)

Since I was little, I would pretend my eyes were lenses of a camera capturing pictures of things I see or recording snippets of a movie. I was thinking recently how much cooler life would be if we always did that. Ordinary things would transform into a beautiful picture or the most mundane action would become a scene of your favorite movie. I started a song about this little idea, and I'll post it up sometime later.

Where to begin

(one of my fav pics from the trip)

Living hope
, passion, the gospel, and vulnerability are a couple of words that reflects on choir tour. It has been such a personal journey over the past two weeks. God was so real and powerful not only to the choir as a group but also to me.

I've been learning at Moody alot about worship as a lifestyle but also in the church. One of the key elements of worship is that it should be transforming and total involvement. And that is exactly what I learned and experienced on tour. I left every concert different. The message of the gospel would pierce my heart every time; as it should. God used a different scripture passage to convict, encourage, disclose to me every night. The program was saturated with recited bible passages, and that definately was something that was very powerful. At the end, he performances were not performances at all, but they were an act of worship and declaration of the gospel. Many choir members were going through extremely hard trials during the tour; there were mutiple deaths of loved ones during the tour and many were sick. However, through it all, we declared living hope we have in Christ Jesus.

Spring has sprung

Spring aaahhh smells soooo good. Theoretically. I'm on a bus coming from Ohio heading back to Chicago. It smells like chips and chocolate. The movie Bright Star is on, and its hot in here. Everything outside looks midtone, but beautiful. Its really cloudy and there are large burnt beige fields bordered by sparse woods. Anyways, today is the last day on choir tour, which tastes bittersweet.

Over the next week I will attempt to blog about some highlights about my trip. Quick summary:

40 ladies. 17 concerts. 15 days. 16 host homes. 16 beds. 16 showers
. 58 hrs on the road. 15 plus sandwiches. 5206 miles. 6 states. 1 bus.

A psychodelic trip anyone?

Yes please. I'm can't wait to watch Tim Burton's new Alice in Wonderland! I've always been captivated with childlike imagination and film. Its going to be awesome to watch something that's both aesthetically stimulating but also has a good story. Apparently Lewis Carroll did not write it with any sort of meaning in mind: "I'm very much afraid I didn't mean anything but nonsense. Still, you know, words mean more than we mean to express when we use them; so a whole book ought to mean a great deal more than the writer means. So, whatever good meanings are in the book, I'm glad to accept as the meaning of the book." Well I guess that's good to know.

Oh boy

Spring break is here. I'm not even sure if its spring yet. Nevertheless, I'm ready to push forward and anticipate 2 weeks of choir tour! We're going to georgia (at least I think), the carolinas, and around there. I'm planning on taking photo journal of all the homes I stay in so that hopefully would be delightfully interesting.

I love this dress.

What are you?

First born?

Middle child?

Last born?

I've been recently talking to other people about how birth order influences personality, and some are true while others not so much. They say if you know the theory well, you can tell what birth order a person is according to their personality. I'm not sure if that's true, but its worth a ponder!

One of the best

This one is prob in my top 5 fav pics out of the bunch from the conservatory trip. I love how the shadows are contrasting to the white, and also how you can almost see every speck of pollen.
